SEO-The single most difficult code to crack for small business owners, but a term that we must use regularly.
noun

COMPUTING
noun: search engine optimization; plural noun: search engine optimizations
  1. the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.
“the key to getting more traffic lies in integrating content with search engine optimization and social media marketing”

Search engine optimization is basically how visible we are to the digital world. For example-when you type in “RI Newborn Photographer” into your search engine,  hundreds of photographers will pop up. When you scroll through the names on the pages, it quickly becomes overwhelming, and you are lost in the sea of newborn photographers. Am I right? Instead of picking through dozens and dozens of pages and looking at everyones work, you are likely to go with someone on the first page. I know that’s what I do!

But how do businesses GET on that first page?

That’s where SEO comes into play. When designing our website, there are certain keywords that must be used within our content. We must use specific phrases and text for each image uploaded onto that site that will drive people to the site as well. Additionally, we must make sure all of the website links have the correct wording too.

Blogging is another way to get noticed, but it has to be methodical. Within the content of the blog, we must sprinkle in more of those keywords that I mentioned above. Adding in the images with the alternate text, videos with tags and proper descriptions is a must.

We have to constantly update our google business listing by adding images and updating information.

Even instagram and Facebook come into play. The #hashtags we use when we post our images are not just for fun-they are specifically chosen to help us be visible to the potential clients in our area. I’m sure you get the idea by now!

Here is where you can come into play! Our SEO score actually gets better when more people interact with our website. By clicking on my links and just reading my blog-you are increasing my score. It might take a minute or two out of your day, but it is one the most beneficial things you can do to help a small business that you love. You can even take it a step further, and hit the like button, or comment on a blog post. Even if you can’t think pf anything to say, a simple emoji will do. The more links to my site that people click, and the more time spent on my page can increase my score over time. It’s certainly not a sprint, but more of a slow, uphill marathon. It’s all about being consistent, and engaging.

When you see a post on Instagram, Facebook, or my stories- just give it a quick click! It helps more than you would think!

I appreciate all of for your continuous support!
