Maternity

Chronicle the incredible journey your body is going through as your baby grows with a maternity portrait session. Pregnancy may feel like it’s eternal at times, but actually it’s a fleeting moment in our journey to parenthood. You may not feel radiant coming into your session, but I hope to show you how beautiful you are. Give your child the gift of seeing how much he or she was loved even before birth with tender but powerful maternity portraits.

When to Book

I recommend scheduling a maternity session between the 28th – 32nd week of pregnancy. Every woman is different, but I find that date range is when most of my clients’ baby bumps are a great size for portraits, yet my clients are still comfortable enough to move around in the different poses.

Clothing

A big factor in a successful maternity portrait session is the outfit choice. In my studio, I have a large client closet full of high quality, flattering gowns for my maternity portrait clients to use at no extra cost to them. Available in a variety of styles, sizes, colors and fabrics, the gowns accentuate and flatter those gorgeous curves. As long as the timeline allows for it, I like my maternity clients to come into my studio a few weeks before their session to check out the gowns, try them on, and talk about the vision for their session.

Investment

Maternity portrait session investments begin at $650

Planning Your Session

My studio is temperature controlled to keep you comfortable throughout your maternity portrait session and out of the elements. I will suggest background colors based on your choice of gown and the colors in your home, so that the finished artwork compliments your decor.

I ask that if you get a spray tan, that you don’t wear underwear for the spray tan, because tan lines are extremely hard to edit out. Additionally, I ask that you remove all chipped nail polish, and either put a clear coat on, or have them painted.

I strongly suggest getting hair and makeup professionally done. I think bridal style makeup applications works best for maternity. I recommend bringing hair spray, lip color, chapstick, oil blotting sheets and lotion in a bag with you to your session.
